[Whenever that possession event thingy is over]
He may or may not have left his apartment at all since returning to himself. When asked, he dismisses it as a work necessity. There was a week's worth of journal activity to comb through for clues that he'd just ignored while on emotional vacation. Nobody else would be able to put the pieces together.
And maybe by the time he finds a solution everyone will forget to be awkward around him.]
Re: [Whenever that possession event thingy is over]
Finally she just gets tired of letting it linger. Robin's practicing avoidance, but Zatanna's in favor of confronting the issue. So she knocks on Robin's door, hard enough to make sure he hears her over his radio.]
I know you're in there, Robin. Open up.
no subject
The stereo might be cranked up a little louder after the knocking starts.]
no subject
Zatanna frowns at the door. Fine. If Robin wants to play the game that way? She'll play.]
Nepo siht rood!
[She lifts her hands as she says the words, calling on the magic necessary to not only break the lock, but to force the door open.]
That's better. [Although now she has the full brunt of the noise blaring at her.] Geez, how are you not deaf?
no subject
Robin bolts out of one of the apartment rooms, hurtling himself at her and extending his cape to cover both of them just as a series of darts shoots out toward the doorway.
Did he not mention he keeps the door booby-trapped? It's a thing.]

[action, june 8th]
It's been a few days since then, but since the missioning doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon, Jason decides to ask Zatanna about it. Dressed in a red hoodie (purely coincidence) and jeans, he crosses the hall and knocks on her door.]
Hey, Zatanna? You around?
Re: [action, june 8th]
Hey, Jason. Come in. [She's dressed pretty simply herself, just a tank top and capris, another card carrying member of the "do not work twenty-four/seven" club.] What's up?
no subject
Oh, not much. I was just wondering how you were doing. Artemis has been acting kind of weird lately.

[If anyone might know what was wrong with her, after all, it was probably Zatanna. She'd known her longer than he did, for sure.]

[action-ish, June 21st] THIS IS REALLY LATE, sorry!
Z—
Okay, maybe I'm a little sneaky. But who doesn't like a surprise?
Happy birthday to my favorite magician!
—JT
In the box is a necklace. Even aside from the necklace, everything about the gift is deliberate, including the type of flower (roses—the birth month flower of June), the color (dignity, mystery, success, magic, and pride), and even the placement (...he felt bad for intruding so he wanted to make it clear he didn't go sneaking around her room). Even though it's a little late, he hopes she'll appreciate the gift!]
Re: [action, June 21st] it's all good!
But she's absolutely delighted when she spots the items; Jason's right. It's a great surprise. So when she makes dinner later, Jason will actually get a plate of spaghetti with meatballs delivered to his door. And he may notice the delivery girl wearing his necklace one he opens up.]
Hey Jason, it's me. Are you home?
no subject
Oh, hey, Zee. What a pleasant surprise.
no subject
I'll bet. You must be shocked. [She laughs, then offers him the plate.] I brought you dinner. You like Italian, right?

August 13th, dawn
Hey. Zatanna?
Re: August 13th, dawn
So instead of a verbal reply? She rolls over and pulls her blanket over her head.]
Re: August 13th, dawn
But he's been awake for just over 25 hours, and it's not long before he's let his head fall back against her wall. It's just a catnap. And he's not sleeping in her bed so she can't possibly think it's weird, right?]
Re: August 13th, dawn
Egnahc sehtolc otni sgnidnib!
[A spell which has Robin's cape tying him up like a cocoon.]
Re: August 13th, dawn
That's fine. He'll just. You know. Be here. Maybe he'll even give an "mmph" of protest.]

October 10th
He'd said a lot of things over that period, some of them bordering on hurtful once Zatanna started trying to break the spell. And then it was over, and everything wonderful was gone again.
There was no approaching Dick for the first several days. The traps around his apartment had changed significantly, and if Zatanna tried to visit him during the route he'd taught her, she'd find entry barred.
He doesn't emerge until the evening of the 10th, and only then to check on certain people and beeline to the battledome. If he's visible at all, it's only in a series of flashes or the audible whoosh of his cape. In Zatanna's case, he enters her apartment at an hour he expects her to be asleep, slipping into her bedroom and watching over her. It's his way of being close without being forced to enter awkward discussion.]
Re: October 10th
Which is why she’s not asleep when Robin comes in. Sure, her room is dark, and Zatanna’s lying in bed. But she’s just staring up at the ceiling, wondering what her dad would say if he were there and himself. Maybe wondering what she’s going to say if Robin ever talks to her again too. She really hasn’t gotten anything figured out on that front though, which is why she’s left fumbling for words when he breaks into her room.]
Robin?
[So what was that about awkward discussion again?]
October 10th
Yeah.
Hey.
Re: October 10th
[He's safe for the moment, at least. Zatanna's not thinking about the hour, or the fact that he meant to sneak into her room while she was sleeping. Instead she gets out of bed, turning on a lamp before she turns to face him.]
How are you?
Re: October 10th
I'm fine. Same as always, I guess.
You should go back to sleep. Sorry I woke you.
