[ZATANNA THAT IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.

Robin bolts out of one of the apartment rooms, hurtling himself at her and extending his cape to cover both of them just as a series of darts shoots out toward the doorway.

Did he not mention he keeps the door booby-trapped? It's a thing.]

[And suddenly there's Robin. Running at her. Very quickly.

Before she can actually say anything he actually knocks her over, which isn't something she takes very well.]

What are you doing?! [Not that it isn't made clear scant seconds later when the darts go flying overhead. Then he'll actually have a few moments of silence while she comes to terms with the notion that he keeps his door booby trapped.]

...I don't even know why I'm surprised.

Don't do that! You don't know what could've happened to you!

[With the danger passed, he pushes her away and gets back to his feet, stepping out into the hall to collect the discarded traps.]

...Right. Guess it was silly of me to forget my neighbor likes to set up death traps for visitors. So you really are back to normal.

[Which may hurt a little to say, but Zatanna picks herself up as well. She moves to the doorway as Robin leaves, making sure she'll be in his way if he tries to retreat inside again.]

We need to talk.

[Because that's the important part of what Zatanna just said, clearly.]

Do-serious-harm traps then. Did you miss the part where I said we needed to talk?

[He's not entirely familiar with the Girl-meaning of "talk".]

Please tell me we're not going to do this the entire time. I mean we need to talk about what happened last week. With us.

There's nothing to talk about. It was an experiment. Things happened. I don't blame you.

Blame me? You make it sound like we did something wrong.

So what does that mean? Possession's over, and everything is supposed to just go back to exactly the way it was before?

[Because Zatanna's been possessed before. This hadn't been the same as when Doctor Fate took over her body.]

Maybe it wasn't entirely us, but some of it was. You even said so yourself.

Now get inside before someone hears you. [He makes an attempt to shoulder past her.]

[It's hard to decide which is worse, honestly. That he really expects it to be so easy, that maybe it is for him, or that he wants to sweep it under the rug.]

Before someone hears what? Me saying I made out with Robin last week?

[Okay, maybe saying it louder isn't the nicest thing she can do. But Zatanna's getting pretty frustrated, especially when he tries to brush past her. There's not a lot she can do to stop him, given the size difference--but he will actually have to push her out of the way, since Zatanna steps more firmly into his path.]

[He half-shoves, half-pulls her back into the apartment, slamming the door behind them.]

What's wrong with you?!

What's wrong with me? How about what's wrong with you?!

[She's shoots a glare at him once they're inside again.] You say it doesn't matter and that it wasn't us, but then you don't want anyone to know. I want to know why.

[Zatanna why are you such a crazy person HOW DOES BATMAN PUT UP WITH YOU.]

You need to calm down.

And you need to answer my question.

[She crosses her arms over her chest, stubbornly refusing to back away from this.]

Zatanna, I don't know what you're interested in doing. But we're still prisoners here. You need to keep your head in the work. Neither one of us has time for... Whatever you think happened.

Actually, we’ve got nothing but time. [Yes, there are obligations to fill some of it, but not every single waking moment.] And what do you mean what I think happened? Last I checked, there were two of us involved in something that felt very real.

[Maybe in more ways than one. Although it’s getting harder to see all of them just then.]

Experiments tend to feel real while they're happening. Don't let them cloud your judgment. There's always someone spying on us to watch how we react afterward.

Did you know there's a love experiment every year in february? People stay linked together afterwards every year, so the experiment keeps happening. They obviously consider it a success. Don't let them have that.

[She actually gapes a bit at that, and not just because the love experiment bit is news to her.] So what, you have to avoid me like the plague so the Malnosso don't think they got to you? Isn't that just letting them control you in a different way?
