So does your birthday still count if you technically skipped four months?

[This is an important question being posed over your journals, Luceti. Because if it does count, Zatanna's fifteen today. Not that she's been advertising it a lot. Holidays have been kind of hard on her since Halloween, and today really isn't an exception. It's the first birthday she's spent without her father, and in the superhero business? That's saying something.

She tries not to let it get her down, though--or at least, not to show that it is. Maybe if someone catches her when she's alone, they'll see hints of it. Staring off into space with a frown at some reminder. There's bound to be plenty, since she's raiding the library for books on magic and the item shop for more stage friendly props. The training she does daily at the battle dome (with her birthday being no exception) isn't the only thing she should keep up with.

So at some point during the afternoon, she'll try to find bored people in the plaza, cards in hand. It'll be better than just the "think of your card and I'll name it" bit, promise. Sometimes she sticks to sleight of hand, while others she may employ a backwards chant. Maybe it's not all that impressive in a place where anyone can learn magic, but she doesn't want those skills to deteriorate. It's the one connection she's got to her father, the person who taught her what she knows.

Eventually, she'll head back to Community House 5 when she starts thinking about dinner.]

You know, I've been wondering about that myself. It was summer when I left my world, but suddenly it was winter here.

[Only a month after what should be his birthday, and there were plenty of reasons why it would make him nostalgic.]

I hope not. Otherwise I skipped my birthday already. [Dude does not want to be sixteen for over a year, okay.

But this must be an extremely not-so-subtle reminder she wants birthday presents. Great. Now he has to go shopping!]

Well, technically... you are whatever age you are when you're brought here. Some people choose to go by the date that matches what's familiar to them, others try and calculate what it might be from the time they were brought here. In the long run, it doesn't matter too much, only personal preference.

I think it counts as much as you want it to. I think I missed mine.

But if you do decide to count it, what are you up to?

[Because Artemis really fails at organizing anything in a timely manner. And also because she might have completely lost track of what day it was until say, the night before. But no one knows that, so HEY impromptu scrambling to make this happen.

She tries to contact as many of the people she knows Zatanna's befriended here - her past few weeks of evasiveness not helping this much, but hey she tries? This extends to their floormates and Billy and Teddy upstairs and a few of the people she's heard Zatanna mention in passing. She gives out a general idea of time to drop by and then waits till Zatanna heads out for a training session at the Battle Dome to tackle the kitchen and see what she can do about coming up with a cake. Not that she has a lot of experience with cakes but. How hard can it be?

By the time Zatanna gets back, party things have been assembled and a few friends have gathered to celebrate with her. Artemis knows that this day won't be exactly easy for her friend, but she hopes having some fun with friends will be enough of a distraction for a little while.]

[Crys was having a rather dull day. Nothing much was really going on, and there weren't a whole lot of people left to keep her company. She kept getting out of the house in hopes of meeting new people, but she always wound up getting bored.

And now? She's bored of boredom. So when she sees Zatanna with a deck of cards (and she looks around her age), she walks over, pointing to the deck.] Is that for a card game?

It should still count, right? Like-- maybe you missed some time, but your birthday's still your birthday.

How old're you?

So does that mean a Happy Birthday is in order?

That all depends on if you like math. Personally, I like to save myself a headache and stick to the day based on Luceti's calender.

[After all, not everyone wants to stress over the logistics of how their point in time meshes with the time in Luceti. Riku certainly tries not to fuss over it.]

Hey, there's no reason it shouldn't count. If it's your birthday here, you should celebrate.

I missed mine by a few months - still wondering if I should just wait till next year or just say 'screw it.'

[It's both a joke and not. He spent about a week after he realized he missed his debating the merits of having a party or not.]

The question is really, "do I feel like having cake now, or later?" I'd answer, why not both?

I think the most logical thing to do would be to figure out exactly how many days you've missed, then add those to your birth date and celebrate that day as the new beginning of your next year!

Or you could just celebrate the day that you were born. But that required much less effort on your part, and more on your mother's. That would be more of a "birthing day".

... You could celebrate two birthdays!
